Purchasing a new vehicle is an exciting time. However, it’s important to be prepared for the ins and outs of the buying process. For example, you need to know which documents to have on hand when buying a new vehicle. Here’s everything you should bring, courtesy of the BMW finance team at BMW of Silver Spring.

Driver’s License

Your driver’s license is a critical document to bring to the dealership. We need proof of your identity and that you’re licensed to drive before selling you a car.

Proof of Residence

We may need to confirm your residence before selling you the car. Documents like utility bills or bank statements prove your address.

Proof of Insurance

We’ll need proof of your auto insurance when you purchase a car from us. This ensures that we’re selling the vehicle to a responsible driver according to state law. It also speeds up the process of adding the new vehicle to your insurance, as we can add the VIN to your policy.

Loan Pre-Approval Paperwork

If you’ve already been pre-approved for an auto loan, bring any related documents with you to the dealership. That way, we can enter the information into our system quickly and get your BMW finance process started.

Pay Stubs/Proof of Income

If you’re financing through our dealership, we need to see proof of your employment and income. Pay stubs (or other proof of income) will help you secure an auto loan.
