At this point, everyone knows that the American economy is ailing. With millions of Americans out of work and the unemployment rate remaining very high, there is no doubt that America is in grave debt. Unfortunately, the news doesn't like to cover positive efforts towards mending our suffering economy. For example, BMW has shown the American people that they are dedicated to developing sustainable growth at their South Carolina production facility.
Earlier this month, the Bavarian automaker publicized plans to boost their original investment in both the BMW Scholars, a manufacturing recruitment program and the new on-campus Associate Family Heath Center. In addition to the BMW Scholars program, BMW has reinforced their dedication to creating job opportunities by announcing their desire to add approximately one hundred professional job opportunities including product management positions, IT professionals and engineers.
"These innovative programs and new jobs serve to exemplify how much we care about current and future generations," says BMW Group Board Member, Harald Kruger. "For us, sustainability is not just about building the most efficient vehicles in the most productive facilities. It's also about accepting responsibility for decisions that affect the future development of our associates."1
The North Carolina BMW manufacturing facility plans to produce over 260,000 automobiles and distribute them to more than one hundred and thirty global markets by the end of the year. This fall the North Carolina plant will begin working a 6 day work week in hopes to meet the global demand for BMW cars.
