At BMW of Silver Spring, we know you have several excellent choices when looking for new BMW cars. The choices on our lot are difficult enough to pick between, but when you begin to add varying models of the same vehicle, it can get a bit confusing. Today, we want to take one of our most popular upcoming vehicles, the 2020 BMW X6, and tell you the difference between its three models so you can decide the optimal vehicle for yourself.
The 2020 BMW X6 coming soon near Columbia, MD comes in two basic trim models and one performance trim model: sDrive40i, xDrive40i, and M50i. The easiest to distinguish is the X6 M50i – this performance-oriented BMW crossover gets the speed demon treatment BMW is legendary for, creating a monster of a Sports Activity Coupe® with a massive 4.4-liter BMW M TwinPower turbocharged V8 engine that generates 523 horsepower and a gut-thrusting 553 lb-ft of torque. It’s the true BMW performance incarnation of the 2020 X6, and it comes with all the trimmings you’d expect a full-scale luxury vehicle like the X6 to come with.
The difference between the sDrive40i and xDrive40i is a bit more nuanced. Both are powered by the same 3.0-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder engine, delivering an impressive 335 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque. They both have the same set of standard and optional features, including standard 16-way power front seats, a two-way panoramic moonroof, and much more. The optional features include conveniences like an LED lighting array on the edges of your moonroof, enhanced office connectivity to your vehicle’s touchscreens, and what is probably the best feature of all: heated and/or cooled front cup holders.
The main difference between the two trim levels is the drivetrain: sDrive40i is a rear-wheel-drive system, and xDrive40i is an all-wheel-drive system. xDrive40i also makes 0-60 mph in 0.1-more second than sDrive40i, so that’s something to consider.
