BMW AG Makes Strong Showing at Geneva Auto Show

Geneva isn’t exactly home turf for BMW AG; but that city’s luxury-centered auto show — now in its 88th year — is a natural fit for the brand. As a Columbia, MD BMW dealership, BMW of Silver Spring naturally kept a close watch on the developments coming from Switzerland. As usual, we were not disappointed: no fewer than six new BMW cars (and some other surprises) were on view. Here are some highlights, culled from Carscoops’ full coverage of the event.

BMW M Performance Parts

One debut that hasn’t been talked about enough is some new BMW parts. Specifically, owners of BMW X2, BMW X3, and BMW X4 SUVs will now be able to order from a growing roster of BMW M Performance parts that include an assortment of matte black alloy wheels, steering leather, carbon fiber paddle shifters, and much more.

2019 BMW X4

The BMW X4 was introduced in 2013, and its next-generation model arrived in Geneva as the 2019 BMW X4. Like the larger BMW X6, it’s a coupe-like variant on another new BMW SUV--in this case, the BMW X4 builds on the popular BMW X3 SUV. It’s larger inside and out, substantially redesigned, and finds its technology and powertrain significantly updated. We’ll have more news on this model in the weeks ahead.

Other BMW Models

The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and Grand Tourer arrived with a modest face-lift. Alpina showed its 2019 Alpina BMW XD3, their take on the BMW X3. The BMW M4 Convertible Edition 30 Jahre turned heads. Soon, so will the striking BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe — its stretched and graceful profile suggests a car that’s ready not so much to accelerate as to pounce.

These models are still just over the horizon. One thing is certain, however: your Silver Spring BMW dealership is about to have much more to offer alongside an already robust inventory of new BMW cars. Visit BMW of Silver Spring at 3211 Automobile Blvd., today!
