Last month at BMW of Silver Spring we did a blog post on the BMW i3. The short clip showed this EV car whipping around a test course at impressive speeds and proving to consumers that in the quest for fuel efficiency you can still drive a car that knows how to have fun.
Now we have some more exciting news about the BMW i3 and a recent collaboration with Samsung. Not only will this car be zipping around at fast speeds, but it will also let drivers be tech-savvy and fashionable at the same time.
The BMW and Samsung brands teamed up to see how the Samsung Galaxy Gear smart watch could be useful to owners of the i3, and we wanted to share the exciting outcomes that are bound to make your life as a driver a little easier.
Through the BMW i Remote App, the i3 would relay information to the watch which the user could easily access at the touch of a finger. By merely moving a wrist, owners could check the battery charging rate of the car. If they were shopping on a summer day and a rain storm suddenly swept through they could check to see if there windows were up without leaving the fitting room.
This isn’t just a one way street, though. Drivers could also send information from the watch to their i3 to be stored for later use. No more getting into your car and setting up your GPS system. Instead you can send directions that will instantly be available, which is crucial for needing to get somewhere fast.
We hope this system becomes available soon and we'll definitely continue to inform you on this exciting development. In the meantime, we have many new inventory BMW models at our Silver Spring, MD location that are still well-equipped when it comes to bringing the technology realm into vehicles.
