Just over a year ago the exciting Concept Active Tourer went on display at the Paris Motor Show and everyone at BMW of Silver Spring was excited by the implications. Following the premiere, we couldn't wait to get word about when it would arrive at our showroom. And then something unexpected happened: days turned into weeks, weeks into months, and still no news on the Active Tourer front. It was almost as if someone had abandoned us at the last minute, and we were left standing alone on a crowded train platform.

We resigned to let those pleasant memories slip into the past. Whenever talk of a new BMW crossover stirred up, so would our nostalgia for the sleek-looking five-door we once laid eyes upon. "We'll always have Paris," we thought. Until, suddenly, out of nowhere, word came from the top that the Active Tourer would finally join our lineup in Silver Spring, MD. Of all the BMW dealers in all the world...

Well, actually it will go on sale across the country in 2015, but still we feel as though we'll be reuniting with a long lost vehicle. Details are sparse at present. However, we can tell you that the model in question will target entry level luxury buyers. Accordingly, we expect it to sport a three-cylinder mill and a turbocharged four-cylinder plant for an output of 134-hp and 189-hp, respectively.

Stay tuned to our BMW blog and we'll be sure to report everything we learn about the pending release. While we wait, we can always tide ourselves over with the range of stylish models in our showroom and a few listens to "As Time Goes By".
