When you hear that a company wants to grow, people typically think expansion. BMW, however, is hoping to win over today's younger and more efficiency-minded drivers by downsizing.
That's right; like many luxury automakers today, they're shrinking the size of long-time favorites and introducing more petite, but still posh utility vehicles.
What's the long-time favorite the Bavarian automaker is planning to downsize? The BMW 1 Series. It won't be dramatically different from the 2012 1 Series Coupe or Convertible you'll find at our new BMW showroom serving Silver Spring. Simply a bit smaller and presumably more efficient.
The car we want to talk about now, however is the soon-to-be-released BMW X1. Unveiled to the world for the first time this spring at the NYC auto show, it promises to be the perfect option for drivers who crave fun, functionality and good fuel economy. Essentially, the X1 is proof BMW wants drivers to have their cake and eat it too.
…Just how much will a slice cost? Less than you'd probably ever guess. The highly anticipated BMW X1 will carry a starting M.S.R.P. of just over 31 grand.
