The London Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG) has implemented several strict emissions standards for the 2012 official VIP fleet in an effort to be as green as they can be. Numerous automakers have attempted to design cars that are not only chic, but also environmentally friendly.  However, not a single automaker could create a vehicle like BMW. BMW of Silver Spring, serving Silver Spring, has been filled with anticipation since we found out BMW was named the official vehicle.

Over 40 BMW 3 Series and BMW 5 Series models will be a part of the BMW VIP Fleet for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Of these vehicles the platforms for the fleet range from hybrids to diesels to a handful of all-electric models. "BMW's Olympic fleet needs to be varied to deal with the complex operational demands of the Games time effort," explains Tim Abbott, Managing Director of BMW UK. "We are extremely proud for our cars to be involved in the London 2012 Games and are excited about seeing them in full service this summer."1

What's more exciting, however, than the green technologies that the BMW VIP Fleet will be using are the designs that the specific vehicles will carry during the 2012 Olympic Games. BMW has released the official snapshots to the public. The pictures depict two models, one with a white base and the other with a light purple finish. London 2012 logos are featured down the sides of the white model, while the light purple model features bright pink and purple London 2012 logos. Each vehicle is striking on its own, but more so when complimented by the style of the other in the same shot.

While you are watching the 2012 Olympic Games make sure you are on the lookout for the BMW VIP Fleet. Are you actually more interested in scheduling a test drive in a new BMW? Please feel free to visit BMW of Silver Spring today at 3211 Automobile Blvd Silver Spring, MD 20904.
