Android is, after all, currently the fastest growing platform for smartphones and tablets available. As such, BMW of Silver Spring is thrilled to announce that the long-awaited, Android-compatible My BMW Remote app is now available.

Downloading the free app is easy - and comes at no additional cost. All you have to do is meet the three following requisites:

1.    Own  a BMW 5-Series (made October 2010 or after), a BMW 7 Series (made October 2010 or after), or a BMW X3 (made November 2010 or after)
2.    Own a  BMW equipped with Professional or Business  navigation system integrated with Bluetooth
3.    Have an active BMW Assist account

If you meet these three requisites, you can download the all-new, Android-compatible My BMW Remote app from the iTunes store, today. Among the features aimed at elevating the comfort and convenience of your BMW ownership experience are standard remote start, remote climate control, remote lights, remote horn, remote lock/unlock. And because, it's based on Google's open-source OS - Google Local Source. For those not familiar with the system, Google Local Source, eliminates the need to input points of interest into the navigation system.

Of course, just as they promised the Android-based app, when launching the inaugural iPhone-based app, BMW is continuing to make future promises. Specifically, they're vowing to add a remote charge gauge, next year, coinciding with the launch of the all-new BMW ActiveE.
