BMW has recently produced the ActiveE, a new electric vehicle. But, the Bavarian automaker's objective is to form something much larger than electric. In an effort to achieve their ultimate goal BMW has launched a new campaign, inviting drivers to become "electronauts".

Electronauts are very similar to astronauts. Both are explorers and adventure seekers. And, in the end, electronauts are expected to help the Bavarian automaker study how their distinctive ActiveE  EV and other EV technology can connect drivers to the future of urban mobility. The automaker gives the best definition of an electronaut, defining it as a "surveyor of the present, and a proponent of the future - the future of mobility."1

Altogether, the Bavarian automaker is searching for 700 electronauts to assist BMW in successfully carrying out their mission. Electronaut positions will be offered on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you think you would make a great electronaut make sure to follow the three straight forward steps.

-    Step 1: Complete the BMW ActiveE reservation form on www.bmwusa.com/activee.
-    Step 2: Cooperate in a charging station consultation with BMW partner, AeroVironment.
-    Step 3: Enter a closed-end, two-year lease agreement at a participating BMW dealership and finalize your ActiveE charging station installation.

How much does becoming an electronaut cost? The reservation is free of charge, but the consultation includes a $100 visitation fee. Conversely, the $100 fee will be credited toward the installation cost of the charging station. The BMW lease agreement requires a $2,250 down payment with a monthly payment of $499. Moreover, maintenance will be free of charge.

Once becoming an electronaut you will not only be a member of an elite group within BMW drivers, but will also work collectively towards creating a better future. Like assuming any new role or position, when becoming an electronaut comes responsibilities. All BMW electronauts will be held responsible to provide frequent feedback on the ActiveE to BMW staff and share thorough information on their driving and charging habits.
