BMW first introduced the M moniker to its lineup back in 1972 and reserves it for vehicles that promise unrelenting speed. The Bavarian automaker even goes so far as to classify M as "the most powerful letter in the world."1 And, with nine racing championships under its belt, we have to agree that it is.

To celebrate the BMW M  model's racing heritage and ability to make  driver's heart race and bring tears to their eyes, BMW is creating 40 special, competition-edition M3 coupes to join their 2012 lineup. Each of the limited-production competition-edition M3 coupes will feature the same technological components and identical Frozen Silver exterior paint.

BMW of Silver Spring would, however, like to note that the paint finish is exclusive to the M3 Competition Edition coupes. Unlike most paint finish options you'll find available on the market, this one is specially designed to draw attention to, and enhance, the car's svelte lines. And, it's complemented by contrasting black and dark-chrome exterior trim accents, including black M3 GTS wheels.

The BMW M3 Competition Edition's cool look transcends the exterior to the interior where drivers will find Extended Novillo Leather appointments accented with silver. BMW even added a M3 checkered flag logo inlay in the steering wheel and along the door sills, to honor BMW's long racing heritage, as well as authentic carbon-fiber detailing along the dash and center console.
