Time really does fly. It seems like just yesterday, when the BMW 328 launched. And, already it's turning 75.

A a pioneer in the realm of sports cars since its infancy, the dream spots car represented then what it continues to embody today: dynamics, aesthetics, and leading-edge innovation. Even the original model featured a systemic lightweight design, aerodynamic construction, optimum engine variants, and exemplary suspension technology.

To celebrate the 328's enduring status and multitude of accomplishments, including setting the highest average speed at the Mille Miglia circuit in the 40's and claiming another podium finish again last year, BMW is hosting an extended anniversary celebration.

The festivities will begin near Lake Combo at the Mille Miglia, where the BMW 328 will take the limelight. Two weeks later, the celebration will move on to the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este, where the sports car's functional aesthetics will be commemorated. And last, but certainly not least - on the Roadster's official anniversary, BMW will debut an honorary special-edition outfitted in a collection of motor sport racing details and a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine: the BMW 328 Hommage .

"With the BMW 328 Hommage, we wish to pay homage to the passion and inventiveness of the fathers of the BMW 328, says Karl Bäumer, CEO, BMW Group Classic. "They created an icon, which is considered a milestone in the history of the automobile." 1

At this time no details on production numbers and market availability have been released.
