Even though the all new BMW i3 has yet to be unveiled to the American public, the concept car has already caught the attention of Chicago BMW fans. The completely, one-hundred percent electric concept car was spotted on Wacker Drive by inquiring BMW enthusiasts. Wondering just what was it doing out there?
After some investigating, we discovered a youTube video of the i3 whipping down Wacker Street following a camera dolly truck. After watching the video it was quite obvious that the Bavarian automaker was filming the concept car. But, what is the footage for? Is it going to be used in the official unveiling, or is it a mere promotional video? Is the video going to be used for television advertisement? Unfortunately, we have yet to figure out the reason, but we do know that the pure-electric concept car looked incredible cruising through Chicago. It's certainly something we would like to see with our own eyes.
It makes sense the Bavarian automaker picked the active city of Chicago to flaunt the i3. The i3 is more of an urban car than the BMW i8. The pure-electric concept car is anticipated to have an 80-100 mile driving range, which is perfect for the urban driver.
The Bavarian automaker plans to unveil the i3 in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Until then, all we can do is patiently wait for a more detailed look at the i3's official specs and features. The model that was spotted in Chicago was without a doubt the same concept that BMW recently released images of. But, we promise you that doesn't stop it from not only catching, but holding the eyes amidst the cityscape and traffic.
